Everything you need ready before you land in St Lucia

Visitors from the US, Canada, the UK, the EU and Commonwealth countries do not need a visa for stays of up to 42 days. CARICOM citizens can stay up to 6 months. Other nationalities should check visa rules with the Saint Lucia government before booking flights.

Air arrivals complete an online immigration and customs form within 72 hours before landing. One form covers a family travelling together. You receive a QR code by email to show at the airport, so save it to your phone.

Most international flights land at Hewanorra (UVF) in the south. George F. L. Charles (SLU) is in the north near Castries and Rodney Bay and mainly takes regional flights. From UVF to the northern hotels is about 75 to 90 minutes by car, from SLU about 20 minutes.

Many visitors book a private transfer for arrival and departure, then rent a car for a few days to explore. Driving is on the left and roads are winding. If you rent with us, the car is delivered free to your hotel and we arrange your US$25 local permit.

The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, fixed at about EC$2.70 to US$1. US dollars are widely accepted. Cards work at hotels and most restaurants, but carry some cash for buses, markets, beach vendors and tips.

St Lucia uses 240V and UK-style three-pin Type G plugs. Visitors from the US, Canada and Europe need an adapter. Check that your chargers say 100 to 240V before you plug them in.

December to May is the drier, sunnier season and the busiest. June to November is greener and quieter with short tropical showers, and it is also hurricane season, so keep an eye on forecasts and consider travel insurance.
