Aupic Paradise is in the Vieux Fort area at the southern end of St Lucia, only a few kilometres from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 10 to 20 minutes, one of the shortest transfers on the island. The fare is $83 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.
Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you at the door while other arrivals are still queueing for a taxi.
Nothing is charged online and there is no deposit.
The drive from Hewanorra
There is very little drive to describe, which is the point. The road leaves the airport into Vieux Fort and you are there within minutes. No mountain roads, no hairpins, no queasy passengers after a long flight.
Traffic is rarely a factor. Vieux Fort is a small town and the only busy moments are around the centre in the middle of the day.
The same applies in reverse. Where guests in the north need a pickup before dawn for a midday flight, here you can have breakfast, pack properly and still reach the counter in good time.
Why people stay in the south
Worth setting out, because most visitors default to the north without thinking about it.
Vieux Fort is a working town rather than a resort strip, with the island's largest supermarkets, a fishing port, a market and local restaurants, and prices that reflect a place where people live rather than visit. It is also well placed for the southern half of the island. Soufriere and the Pitons are about an hour away, the Gros Piton trailhead around forty minutes, Castries roughly an hour, and Rodney Bay an hour and a half.
If your trip is about the Pitons, hiking and the south coast, basing yourself here saves hours in the car compared with the north, and the airport being minutes away removes the worst day of the holiday, the one spent driving back for the flight.
The sea on this side
An honest word about swimming. This is the Atlantic coast, so the water is livelier than the calm Caribbean side, which is exactly why the kite surfers gather at Sandy Beach, also called Anse de Sables, a short drive away.
Some months the east coast also picks up sargassum, the brown seaweed that drifts across the Atlantic onto windward shores. It comes and goes and does not affect the west coast. If it is around during your stay, the sheltered beaches towards Soufriere are half an hour up the road and we can run you across.
The Maria Islands nature reserve lies just offshore, and the lighthouse at Moule à Chique gives a view along both coasts.

Frequently asked questions
I am flying into SLU George Charles Airport. Can you collect me?
Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $110 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers. Select SLU under "Your airport" to see the price and book. Your driver tracks your flight and waits for you, with the same fixed price on the return trip.
Why stay in the south rather than the north?
Shorter transfers, lower prices and the Pitons an hour away instead of two. The trade is fewer restaurants and less nightlife than Rodney Bay.
Is the sea good for swimming here?
It is the Atlantic side, so livelier, and seaweed turns up in some months. For calm swimming, the west coast beaches are around half an hour away.
How far are the Pitons?
About an hour to Soufriere, and roughly forty minutes to the Gros Piton trailhead, which makes this a practical base for the climb.
Can you take us to the west coast beaches?
Yes. A half day or full day with a driver covers the beaches and the main sights, and is easy to arrange alongside your transfer.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track it and update your driver, who waits. No extra charge and the booking stands.
How do I pay?
Cash to the driver on arrival. Nothing is taken online and there is no deposit.
