UVF Airport to JJ's Paradise Resort Private Transfer

JJ's Paradise Resort is at Marigot Bay on the central west coast, roughly 55 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 55 to 65 minutes. The fare is $110 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.

Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.

The drive from Hewanorra to Marigot Bay

The quickest way north runs up the Atlantic side. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge across the middle of the island, and drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries. From there it is about twenty minutes south on the west coast road.

Castries is where any delay comes from, generally 7am to 9am inbound and 4pm to 6pm outbound on weekdays.

The turn for Marigot is easy to miss and the road down is steep and narrow, with tight bends. It is short, and we send a vehicle sized for it, with the driver taking you to the door rather than the top of the hill.

Around the bay

Marigot is a deep, sheltered inlet with hills on both sides, long used by sailors as a hurricane hole and still more marina than beach resort. The waterfront restaurants and charter boats are on the north side, the small stretch of sand sits on the spit opposite, and a little ferry crosses between the two in about a minute.

The part most visitors never see is the head of the bay, where the water narrows into mangroves. It is a nursery for fish and birds, quiet, and best seen from a kayak or a small boat early in the day before the charter traffic wakes up. Ask locally about getting out there, it is a short paddle and a different side of the bay from the marina.

Anse La Raye is about ten minutes south and holds its fish fry on Friday evenings. Castries is roughly twenty minutes north, and Soufriere and the Pitons are around 45 minutes down the coast, close enough for a comfortable day out.

How booking works

1. Pick this transfer, choose the pay-in-cash option, register and submit your details. The flight number field is optional at this stage.
2. You get a confirmation email straight away letting you know we have received the booking.
3. Someone goes through your details and confirms the booking, usually in under 30 minutes, and you get a confirmation email.
4. We assign your driver and ask for the flight number about 24 hours before travel if we do not have it. He meets you at arrivals with your name on a sign, handles the bags and drives you down into the bay, where the fare is settled in cash.

Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $55 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. What is worth doing in the bay itself?

The mangroves at the head of the water are the quiet find, best by kayak early in the morning. Beyond that it is boats, waterfront restaurants and the crossing to the sand opposite.

How do we get to the beach?

The bay's little ferry runs across to the spit where the sand is, a crossing of about a minute. Bigger beaches are a short drive up or down the coast.

Is the descent into the bay difficult?

Steep and narrow, and slow if something is coming the other way, but it takes only a few minutes and our drivers run it regularly.

How far are the Pitons?

About 45 minutes south to Soufriere, which makes a day trip from Marigot straightforward. We can arrange a driver for it.

What if my flight is delayed?
