Getting to Sandals in St Lucia: Airport Transfers to All Three Resorts (2026)

If you have booked a Sandals holiday in St Lucia, congratulations, you are heading somewhere special. Now for the two questions every Sandals guest googles the week before flying: which airport do we land at, and how do we get to the resort?

We drive these routes every day, so here are the straight answers, including one thing many guests do not realize about how far the resorts are from the airport.

First: yes, you land at UVF, and no, it is not close

Almost all international flights to St Lucia land at Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) at the southern tip of the island. All three Sandals resorts are in the north. There is a second, smaller airport near Castries called SLU, but unless you are hopping over from another Caribbean island, UVF is yours. If you are not sure, check the three letter code on your ticket, and our UVF vs SLU guide explains the difference in two minutes.

The distance surprises people. Depending on which Sandals you booked, the drive from UVF is between one hour and an hour and a half through the mountains. It is a genuinely beautiful drive, but it is real, and it is worth planning rather than discovering at the arrivals curb.

How far is each Sandals from UVF?

There are three Sandals resorts in St Lucia, and they sit at different points up the west and north coast.

Resort Where it is Drive from UVF Typical private transfer price
Sandals Regency La Toc La Toc Bay, just south of Castries 60 to 75 minutes $80 to $90 US per vehicle
Sandals Halcyon Beach Choc Bay, just north of Castries 70 to 80 minutes $80 to $95 US per vehicle
Sandals Grande St Lucian Pigeon Island causeway, Rodney Bay 85 to 90 minutes $90 to $100 US per vehicle

Prices are per vehicle for up to four passengers, not per person, and the full route system is explained in our St Lucia taxi rates price list

A quick note on the Grande, since it is the most booked: it sits on the causeway between Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island, the very top of the island, which makes it the longest Sandals transfer. The reward is that famous lagoon-calm beach and sunset view. The drive up is essentially the classic UVF to Rodney Bay route, which we covered in detail.

The honest part: your Sandals package already includes a transfer

Let's be straight with you, because plenty of transfer companies conveniently skip this. Sandals includes round trip airport transfers in every package. Guests are gathered at the airport and travel by shared shuttle bus to the resorts.

So why do so many Sandals guests book a private transfer anyway? Because of what "shared" means in practice on a 90 minute route. The shuttle waits at the airport until guests from several flights have all landed and cleared customs, which can add real waiting time after a long day of travel. It then drops guests at more than one resort, and if yours is the Grande at the top of the island, you are usually last. A journey that is 85 minutes door to door in a private car can stretch well past two hours.

None of that is a scandal, it is just how shared shuttles work. But you booked Sandals for a reason. If the first evening cocktail on the beach matters to you, the math changes.

When a private transfer is worth it for Sandals guests

Here is our honest take, as people who see both options play out daily at UVF arrivals.

A private transfer to your Sandals resort makes sense if any of these sound like you: you land in the late afternoon and want to make dinner and sunset, you are starting a honeymoon and want the arrival to feel like part of the trip, you are prone to motion sickness and want the front seat and your own pace, or you simply do not want to wait at the airport for strangers' delayed flights. Your driver meets you inside arrivals with your name on a sign, your flight is tracked, the price is fixed before you fly, and you leave the moment your bags do.

Split between a couple, the cost usually works out to less than two nice cocktails each at resort prices, for up to two hours of your holiday back on day one and again on departure day.

If you are happy to wait and ride with the group, the included shuttle is perfectly fine, and we will cheerfully tell you so. There is no wrong answer, only a trade of time for money.

Three quick tips from drivers who do the Sandals runs daily

Have your exact resort name ready. "Sandals" is not enough, there are three, and La Toc and Halcyon are only twenty minutes apart around Castries. Write it down for whoever drives you.

Plan the departure transfer too. Sandals gathers departing guests well ahead of flight time for the shared ride back. A private departure transfer lets you set your own pickup time and squeeze a last morning at the pool. Here is how the UVF departure and arrival process works so you can time it right.

Playing at all three resorts? Your Sandals stay includes access to the other two properties, and Sandals runs a shuttle between them on a schedule. If you want to hop across on your own timing, a taxi between the Castries pair and the Grande runs about $25 to $35, and we can arrange point to point rides as well.

Quick answers

Which airport do I fly into for Sandals St Lucia? UVF, Hewanorra International, at the southern tip. The resorts are in the north, 60 to 90 minutes away by road.

Does Sandals St Lucia include airport transfers? Yes, a shared shuttle is included in every package. Private transfers are an optional upgrade guests book for speed and comfort.

How long is the transfer to Sandals Grande St Lucian? About 85 to 90 minutes by private car from UVF, longer by shared shuttle once airport waiting and other resort drop-offs are counted.

Can we take an Uber to Sandals? No. There is no Uber in St Lucia. Your options are the included shuttle, a licensed taxi at the rank, or a pre-booked private transfer.

How much is a private transfer from UVF to Sandals? Typically $80 to $100 US per vehicle depending on which resort, fixed in advance when you pre-book. See the table above for your resort.

Is the drive scenic? Genuinely, yes. Coast, rainforest, fishing villages, and if you take the west coast road, glimpses of the Pitons behind you. Many couples call it their first favorite memory of the trip.

The bottom line

All three Sandals resorts sit a real drive from UVF: about an hour for La Toc, a bit more for Halcyon, and up to an hour and a half for the Grande. Your package includes a shared shuttle, and it works. A private transfer costs a little more and gives you back the first hours of your honeymoon. You know which one sounds like you.

Book your fixed-price Sandals transfer now, tell us your resort and flight number, and your name will be on a sign in arrivals when you land.
