Barefoot Beach Villa is on the La Toc headland just south of Castries, about 62 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 60 to 75 minutes. The fare is $116 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. The drive from Hewanorra to La Toc

The route runs north up the Atlantic side of the island. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge across the middle of St Lucia, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley towards Castries.

La Toc sits before the city, so the turning comes off the main road short of the centre. That keeps this run clear of most Castries traffic, which is why it is shorter and cheaper than a transfer to the north end of the island.

The headland itself is residential, with narrow lanes dropping towards the water and villas set into the slopes. Send us the villa name and a contact number for whoever is handling your arrival, since the lanes are not signposted in a way a mapping app understands.

The last day problem

Worth planning now rather than in the final week.

Villa checkout is usually mid morning and flights out of UVF often leave in the afternoon or evening. That leaves a gap of several hours with your luggage and nowhere to put it, which is the part of the trip people handle worst.

The answer is to make the last day count. A driver collects you at checkout with the bags in the vehicle, takes you down the west coast for the morning, stops for lunch, and delivers you to the airport for check-in. Around La Toc

You are close to the capital without being in it. Castries and the cruise terminals at Pointe Seraphine and La Place Carenage are five to ten minutes away, with the Central Market in the same direction and Morne Fortune above the harbour.

Vigie Beach is the nearest stretch of sand towards town, with Choc Bay a little further north. George F. L. Charles Airport at Vigie is around fifteen minutes if anyone is connecting on a regional flight.

The position also shortens the south. Marigot Bay is roughly twenty minutes down the coast and Soufriere about an hour and a quarter, which makes a day trip comfortable rather than a slog. Rodney Bay is twenty five to thirty minutes north.
