Equinox is in the north of St Lucia, roughly 75 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 80 to 95 minutes, which makes it one of the longest transfers on the island. The fare is $132 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.
Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.
Nothing is charged online and there is no deposit.
Arriving at Hewanorra
Since this is a long run north, it helps to know how the airport end works before you add the drive to it.
After landing you clear immigration and then customs. On a quiet arrival that takes twenty minutes or so. When two or three wide bodies land together, which happens most afternoons in season, budget closer to an hour from wheels down to walking out. Check with your airline before you fly about any arrival form or declaration to complete in advance, since requirements change and doing it beforehand saves queueing.
Your driver is inside the arrivals hall, past customs, holding a sign with your name on it. He is there before you land, not circling outside, so there is no phone call and no waiting at the kerb. If you clear faster than expected you simply leave earlier. If your flight is late we track it and he waits, at no extra charge.
Adding it up, an afternoon landing usually means reaching the north somewhere around two hours after touchdown. Worth knowing when you book dinner for the first night.
The drive from Hewanorra to the north
The route runs up the Atlantic side. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge that splits St Lucia, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries. From there the coastal highway continues north past Choc Bay and Bois d'Orange.
Castries is where time is lost on weekdays, 7am to 9am inbound and 4pm to 6pm outbound, and Rodney Bay slows in the early evening as the restaurants fill.
Around Equinox
The north is the busiest and most convenient part of the island. Rodney Bay has Reduit Beach, the restaurant strip, Baywalk Mall, supermarkets and pharmacies, all close together.
Pigeon Island National Landmark, with the fort ruins and two calm beaches, is a short drive, and Gros Islet village holds its street party on Friday nights. Castries and the cruise terminals are around twenty five minutes south. Soufriere and the Pitons are 90 minutes to two hours away, so plan a full day with a driver, or see them by boat from the marina.

Frequently asked questions
I am flying into SLU George Charles Airport. Can you collect me?
Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $40 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Select SLU under "Your airport" to see the price and book. Your driver tracks your flight and waits for you, with the same fixed price on the return trip.
How long does it take to clear the airport?
Twenty minutes on a quiet arrival, up to an hour when several flights land together. Add the 80 to 95 minute drive to work out your arrival time.

Inside the arrivals hall past customs, with a sign showing your name. He is in position before your flight lands.
Is there a form to complete before travelling?
