Beachcross Villa Apartments is in the north of St Lucia, roughly 75 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 80 to 95 minutes. The fare is $132 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.
Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.
Nothing is charged online and there is no deposit.
The drive from Hewanorra to the north
The route runs up the Atlantic side. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge that splits St Lucia, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries. The coastal highway then continues north past Choc Bay and Bois d'Orange.
Castries is where time is lost on weekdays, 7am to 9am inbound and 4pm to 6pm outbound, and Rodney Bay slows in the early evening.
Send us the apartment number along with the property name, since there is no front desk to ask at, and mention it at booking if you want a supermarket stop. The Rodney Bay shops are on the way in, which saves heading back out once you have unpacked.
Settling into a self-catering apartment
Two practical things that catch visitors out, neither of them serious, both easier known in advance.
The electricity here runs at 240 volts with the British style three pin socket, the same as the UK and much of the Caribbean. If you are coming from North America, you need an adapter, and anything not rated for 240 volts needs a converter as well as an adapter. Phone and laptop chargers almost always handle both, hairdryers and shavers often do not. Some hotels fit a second 110 volt socket, but an apartment usually will not.
The mains water is treated and people live on it perfectly happily, so brushing teeth and cooking with it is normal. Bottled water is cheap and everywhere if you would rather drink that, and it is worth picking some up on your supermarket stop rather than paying resort prices later.
Around the apartments
The north is the easiest part of the island for a self-catering stay. Rodney Bay has Reduit Beach, the restaurant strip, Baywalk Mall, supermarkets, pharmacies, banks and ATMs, all close together.
Pigeon Island National Landmark, with the fort ruins and two calm beaches, is a short drive, and Gros Islet village holds its street party on Friday nights. Castries and the cruise terminals are around twenty five minutes south. Soufriere and the Pitons are 90 minutes to two hours away, so plan a full day, or see them by boat from the marina.

Frequently asked questions
I am flying into SLU George Charles Airport. Can you collect me?
Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $40 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers. Select SLU under "Your airport" to see the price and book. Your driver tracks your flight and waits for you, with the same fixed price on the return trip.
What plug adapters do we need?
British style three pin sockets at 240 volts. North American visitors need an adapter, and a converter too for anything not rated for 240.
Is the tap water fine?
It is treated mains water and used daily by everyone here. Bottled is cheap if you prefer it for drinking.
Where is the nearest supermarket?
Rodney Bay, minutes away and on your route in. Ask at booking and the driver will stop.
Can you run us to the beach or out for dinner?
Yes. Beach runs, evening trips and day excursions are all easy to arrange, and worth booking ahead.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track it and update your driver, who waits. No extra charge and the booking stands.
How do I pay?
