Serenity Bay Villa is at Marigot Bay on the central west coast, roughly 55 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 55 to 65 minutes. The fare is $110 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.

Your driver is inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.

The drive from Hewanorra to Marigot Bay

The quickest route north runs up the Atlantic side. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge across the middle of the island, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries. From there it is about twenty minutes south along the west coast.

Castries is where delays happen, mainly 7am to 9am inbound and 4pm to 6pm outbound on weekdays.

The turn for Marigot is easy to miss, and the road down to the bay is steep, narrow and single track in places. Villas here sit on the hillsides above the water, so the final few minutes are a climb or a descent on lanes with tight bends. Send us the villa name and a contact number for whoever is meeting you, since these lanes are residential and rarely signposted.

Shopping before you descend

Worth planning if you are self catering. Marigot has a small marina shop for basics and the waterfront restaurants, but the full size supermarkets are back in Castries, about twenty minutes north, or further on in Rodney Bay.

So the sensible stop is on the way in, while you are passing through Castries, rather than driving back out once you have unpacked. Tell us at booking and your driver will allow the time. It is the difference between one stop on arrival day and losing an hour of your first morning.

Around the bay

Marigot is a deep, sheltered inlet, long used by sailors as a hurricane hole, with restaurants and charter boats on the north side and a small beach on the spit opposite, reached by a ferry that crosses in about a minute.

The bay is also a good place to leave by water. Boats run down the coast from here, and Soufriere and the Pitons are a comfortable trip by sea, which beats the road for both the view and the comfort. Ask us and we will set it up alongside your transfer.

Anse La Raye is ten minutes south with its Friday fish fry, Castries twenty minutes north, and the Pitons roughly 45 minutes by road if you would rather drive.

Yes, and many guests prefer it. The sea route down the coast is more comfortable than the road and the view of the Pitons from the water is the better one.

Can we walk down to the restaurants?

Down, yes, depending where the villa sits. Back up is a serious climb, so most guests arrange a lift for the return.
