Xhale is in the north of St Lucia, roughly 75 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 80 to 95 minutes, one of the longest transfers on the island. The fare is $132 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.
Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.
Nothing is charged online and there is no deposit.
The drive from Hewanorra to the north
The route runs up the Atlantic side. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge that splits St Lucia, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries. The coastal highway then continues north past Choc Bay and Bois d'Orange.
Castries is where time is lost on weekdays, 7am to 9am inbound and 4pm to 6pm outbound, and Rodney Bay slows in the early evening.
Send us the property name and a contact number for your arrival, since the lanes up here are residential and often unnamed.
Flying home from UVF
The outbound leg is the one people plan and the return is the one that goes wrong, so it is worth thinking about now.
Airlines generally ask you to be at the terminal around three hours before a long haul departure, and desks usually open about then rather than earlier. Add 80 to 95 minutes of driving from the north and a midday flight means leaving early in the morning. We give you a pickup time based on your actual flight when you book the return.
Two things make that less painful. The departure tax is normally built into your ticket, so there is nothing to queue and pay at the terminal, though check your booking if unsure. And UVF is a modest airport, so arriving four hours early buys a longer wait rather than a better one.
Book the return as its own transfer when you book the outbound. It costs no more in advance and it is the thing most likely to be forgotten in the last week of a holiday.
Around Xhale
The north is the busiest and most convenient part of St Lucia. Rodney Bay has Reduit Beach, the restaurant strip, Baywalk Mall, supermarkets and pharmacies, all close together.
Pigeon Island National Landmark, with the fort ruins and two calm beaches, is a short drive, and Gros Islet holds its street party on Fridays. Castries is around twenty five minutes south. Soufriere and the Pitons are 90 minutes to two hours away, so plan a full day with a driver, or see them by boat from the marina.

Frequently asked questions
I am flying into SLU George Charles Airport. Can you collect me?
Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $40 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers. Select SLU under "Your airport" to see the price and book. Your driver tracks your flight and waits for you, with the same fixed price on the return trip.
What time should we leave for our flight home?
Allow the airline's check-in window, usually around three hours, plus 80 to 95 minutes on the road. Send us your flight number and we will give you a time.
Is there a departure tax to pay at the airport?
It is normally included in your ticket, so there is nothing to pay at the terminal. Check your booking if you want to be sure.
Is it worth getting there extra early?
No. UVF is a modest terminal, so arriving hours before check-in opens just means a longer wait.
Should we book the return now?
Yes. It costs no more in advance, and it is the arrangement most often forgotten in the last week of a trip.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track it and update your driver, who waits. No extra charge and the booking stands.
How do I pay?
Cash to the driver at the end of each journey. Nothing is taken online and there is no deposit.
Book your UVF to Xhale transfer now and we will confirm it by email once someone has checked your details.
