Marigot Beach Club sits on the palm covered spit on the far side of Marigot Bay, roughly 55 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 55 to 65 minutes. The fare is $110 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.

Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.

The drive from Hewanorra to Marigot Bay

The quickest route north runs up the Atlantic side. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge across the middle of the island, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries. From there it is about twenty minutes south on the west coast road.

Castries is the usual hold-up, mainly 7am to 9am inbound and 4pm to 6pm outbound on weekdays.

The turning for Marigot is easy to miss and the road down is steep, narrow and single track in places. It is short, and the driver takes you to the pier on the marina side.

The last part is by boat

This is the detail that sets your arrival apart from other properties in the bay, and it is better known before you land.

The resort is on the spit opposite the marina, and the normal way across is the small ferry that shuttles back and forth in about a minute. Your driver drops you at the pier, helps the bags out, and you cross to the resort dock on the other side. There is a road that runs around the head of the bay, but it is long and narrow, and nobody uses it when the boat is sitting there.

Tell us your arrival time at booking and the hotel can have the crossing ready, which matters most for an evening landing. If you are carrying dive gear, mention that too. Regulators, fins and wetsuits add up, and we will send a vehicle with room for them alongside the suitcases.

Around the bay

Marigot is a deep, sheltered inlet, long used by sailors as a hurricane hole, and the spit side is where the sand and the palms are. The reef sites are a short boat ride down the west coast, and the Soufriere marine reserve about 45 minutes by sea.

On the marina side there are restaurants, charter boats and provisioning shops. Anse La Raye is ten minutes south with its Friday fish fry, Castries twenty minutes north, and the Pitons around 45 minutes by road, or a better trip by water.
