Marigot Blue Maho Villa sits above Marigot Bay on the central west coast, roughly 55 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 55 to 65 minutes. The fare is $110 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.
Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.
Nothing is charged online and there is no deposit.
The drive from Hewanorra to Marigot Bay
The quickest route north runs up the Atlantic side. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge across the middle of the island, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries. From there it is about twenty minutes south along the west coast.
Castries is the usual hold-up, mainly 7am to 9am inbound and 4pm to 6pm outbound on weekdays.
The turn for Marigot is easy to miss and the road down is steep and narrow. Villas here sit on the hillsides above the water, so the last few minutes are a climb on lanes with tight bends and no signposts. Send us the villa name and a contact number for whoever is meeting you, and mention it if the entrance is up a flight of steps so the driver plans for the bags.
About the weather here
Worth understanding before you worry about it, because the forecast for this coast looks alarming and rarely is.
The hills around Marigot catch cloud, so short sharp showers are normal, often in the afternoon. They arrive, they soak everything for ten or fifteen minutes, and then the sun returns and the terrace dries out. Locals call it liquid sunshine and plan nothing around it. A week showing rain every day on your weather app usually means a week of sunshine with a few brief interruptions.
The wetter months run June to November and the drier stretch December to May, but the pattern of quick showers rather than all day rain holds through both. So do not cancel a plan because of a cloud, carry something light for the shower, and expect the hills at their greenest in the wet months, which is when this coast looks best.
Around the bay
Marigot is a deep, sheltered inlet, long used by sailors as a hurricane hole, with waterfront restaurants and charter boats on the north side and a small beach on the spit opposite, reached by a ferry that crosses in about a minute.
Anse La Raye is around ten minutes south and holds its fish fry on Friday evenings. Castries is roughly twenty minutes north, and Soufriere and the Pitons about 45 minutes down the coast by road, or a more comfortable trip by boat from the bay itself.
