Marigot Palms sits on the hillside above Marigot Bay on the central west coast, roughly 55 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 55 to 65 minutes. The fare is $110 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.

Your driver is inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.

The drive from Hewanorra to Marigot

The quickest route north runs up the Atlantic side. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge across the middle of the island, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries. From there it is about twenty minutes south along the west coast.

Castries is the only reliable hold-up, mainly 7am to 9am inbound and 4pm to 6pm outbound on weekdays.

The turning for Marigot is easy to miss, and the property sits above the bay rather than down at the water, so the last few minutes are a short climb on a narrow lane. It is a better spot than the waterfront for a breeze, and the view down over the bay mouth is the one guests photograph on the first morning.

A base in the middle of the island

This is the practical argument for staying here rather than at either end, and it is worth knowing before you plan your week.

Marigot sits near the midpoint of the west coast. Castries and the cruise terminals are about twenty minutes north. Rodney Bay, with the restaurants, marina and Reduit Beach, is roughly 35 minutes. Anse La Raye is ten minutes south and holds its fish fry on Friday evenings. Soufriere, the Pitons and Sulphur Springs are around 45 minutes down the coast.

From the north of the island, the Pitons are two hours each way and a long day. From here they are a morning. Pigeon Island and the northern beaches are reachable without the day disappearing into the car either. If you want both ends of St Lucia rather than one, this is the stretch of coast that makes it easy, and we can put a driver together for either direction.

Down in the bay

The bay itself is a deep, sheltered inlet with hills on both sides, long used by sailors as a hurricane hole. Restaurants and charter boats line the north side, the small beach sits on the spit opposite, and a little ferry crosses between them in about a minute. Boats also run down the coast from here, which is the comfortable way to see the Pitons.

A few minutes by road. It is downhill on the way there and a climb on the way back, so most guests take a lift rather than walking both ways.

Can you arrange day trips in both directions?

Yes. A day south to the Pitons and Sulphur Springs, or north to Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay, are both straightforward from here.

Is it cooler up on the hill?

Breezier, certainly. The hillside catches more air than the waterfront, which most guests notice in the evening.

What if my flight is delayed?
