St Lucia group transfers come down to one decision: one larger vehicle or several smaller ones. For six or more people, one van is almost always cheaper and simpler, because most transfers are priced per vehicle for up to three passengers. But the number that actually decides it is not passengers. It is luggage. Six people on a beach holiday rarely travel with six bags.
Group trips to St Lucia are brilliant. Weddings, milestone birthdays, families with grandparents, golf trips. They also arrive at Hewanorra with an astonishing amount of stuff, and that is where arrival day goes sideways.
Most St Lucia transfers are priced per vehicle, typically covering up to three passengers. So a group of six booking standard cars is booking two vehicles, and paying for two.
A single larger vehicle carries the whole group for one price, with one driver, one pickup and one arrival. Everyone starts the holiday together rather than in two cars that get separated at the first set of roadworks in Castries.
There is also the drive itself. Most resorts are 60 to 90 minutes from UVF, as our drive times guide shows, and spending it together beats spending it in convoy.
Here it is. Groups book by headcount and forget the bags.
A vehicle described as seating six is rarely built to carry six people and six full holiday suitcases, plus carry-ons, a stroller, a golf bag or two, and the wedding dress in its own protective bag. Six people often means ten or twelve pieces of luggage.
When the bags do not fit, two things happen at the curb. The group splits into two vehicles nobody booked, or somebody spends ninety minutes of winding coast road with a suitcase on their lap.
Count your bags before you book, not your people. Then tell your transfer company both numbers. Any operator worth booking will match the vehicle to the load, not just the seats.
Groups often do not land together. Half on the morning flight from London, half on the afternoon one from New York.
You have two sensible options. Either book a separate pickup for each arrival, so nobody waits hours in the terminal, or have the early group wait and travel together if the gap is short. Waiting three hours in a small airport after a long flight is nobody's idea of a holiday, so for long gaps, split the pickups.
Tell us all the flight numbers when you book and we will plan it around the gap. Our checklist of what to confirm before booking covers the rest of what to ask.
Total passengers, including children and their ages if you need car seats.
Total bags, including golf bags, dive gear, strollers and anything oversized.
Every flight number, so each one is tracked.
Your exact resort or villa, especially for hillside properties with steep access roads where a large vehicle needs planning.
The return date and time, because departure day for a group needs even more margin. Our departure timing guide gives pickup times for every resort area.
Group pricing depends on the vehicle and the route. As a benchmark, typical fares for every route are in our taxi rates guide, and a larger vehicle for the whole group usually works out well below the cost of two separate cars.
Ask for a fixed quote for the whole group. It is far easier to divide one clear number than to settle two drivers at the curb in two currencies.
One thing not to rely on: there is no Uber or Lyft in St Lucia, so a group cannot summon extra cars on arrival if the plan falls short.
Can a group of 6 fit in one vehicle? Yes, in a larger vehicle. The question is whether the luggage fits too, so always share your bag count.
Is one van cheaper than two cars? Usually, since most transfers are priced per vehicle for up to three passengers.
What if we land on different flights? Book separate pickups for long gaps, or travel together if the flights land close together.
Can you do wedding group transfers? Yes. Weddings often need several runs on different days, so plan them together.
Do you provide car seats? On request, if you tell us the number and ages of children when booking.
Which airport should our group fly into? Most groups land at UVF. Check the code on your tickets, and our UVF versus SLU guide explains why it matters.
Send us your passenger count, your bag count and flight number. We will match the right vehicle to your group and your luggage, track each flight, and give you one fixed price for the whole party, so everyone starts the holiday in the same vehicle.
