Bay Gardens Beach Resort sits directly on Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay, roughly 75 km north of Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 80 to 95 minutes. The fare is $132 for the whole vehicle rather than per passenger, covering up to three people, with each additional passenger at $25 up to a maximum of eight.

The drive from Hewanorra to Reduit Beach

The route north runs up the Atlantic side of the island. From Vieux Fort the Micoud Highway passes through Micoud and Dennery, climbs into rainforest at Barre de l'Isle, the ridge that divides the island, then drops through the Cul de Sac valley into Castries and continues up the coast past Choc Bay and Bois d'Orange.

Worth doing the arithmetic before you book excursions for arrival day. Landing at 2pm usually means immigration, bags and loading take you to around 3pm, and the resort at about half past four. An afternoon flight still leaves time on the sand. An evening flight does not.

The final approach is Reduit Beach Avenue, the road running down past the restaurants and bars to the beach end. It is narrow and it fills up in the evening, so the last few hundred metres can be the slowest part of the whole journey. Your driver takes you to the resort entrance rather than leaving you at the top of the avenue.

Around Bay Gardens Beach Resort

Reduit is the longest sandy beach in the north and the resort is on it, so you are not relying on a shuttle to reach the water. The inflatable water park sits just off the beach and is visible from the shore.

Everything else in Rodney Bay is within a short walk: the restaurant strip on the avenue, Baywalk Mall, supermarkets, pharmacies and ATMs. Boat trips and water taxis pick up from the beach and from the marina a few minutes away, so a catamaran day out can start without a road transfer.

Pigeon Island National Landmark is about ten minutes north. Gros Islet holds its street party on Friday nights. Soufriere and the Pitons are at the far end of the island, 90 minutes to two hours away, which makes them a full day rather than an afternoon.

Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $40 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers. Is the resort actually on the beach?

Yes, it fronts Reduit Beach directly. Several other hotels in Rodney Bay are a short walk from the sand rather than on it, so this is the one to book if beachfront matters.

Will we get beach time on arrival day?

If you land by early afternoon, yes. Allow about an hour between landing and leaving the airport, then 80 to 95 minutes on the road.

Is the road down to the resort a problem?

Only for time. Reduit Beach Avenue is narrow and busy in the evening, so the last stretch is slow. The driver still takes you to the door.

Can excursions pick up from the resort?

Many boat trips leave from the beach or the marina nearby, so you often will not need a road transfer. Tell us what you want to do and we will say what is easiest from here.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

We watch the flight and update the driver. He waits, at no extra cost, and your booking is unaffected.
