Fond Doux is a working cocoa estate in the valley between the Pitons, just south of Soufriere and about 37 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 45 to 60 minutes. The fare is $94 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.
Your driver is waiting inside the arrivals hall with your name on a sign. He takes the luggage and you are on the road a few minutes after clearing customs, at the rate you were quoted.
Nothing is charged online and there is no deposit.
The drive from Hewanorra to Fond Doux
The road heads west out of Vieux Fort through Laborie and Choiseul, then north into the hills above the coast. It is sealed the whole way but it bends and climbs almost continuously, so allow the full hour rather than judging by the distance. Rain slows the middle section.
The turning for the estate comes off the main Soufriere road in the same stretch that serves Sulphur Springs and the Tet Paul trail, so you pass the entrances to both on your way in. The estate drive itself is a short climb, rough in places, and it ends at the reception building rather than at your cottage.
That last detail matters more here than on most routes. The cottages are spread out across the hillside on paths and steps, so your driver hands the bags over at reception and estate staff take them up to the room. It is worth knowing before you arrive with four suitcases.
Around Fond Doux
The estate is still farmed. Cocoa is grown, dried and processed on site, and guests can walk the plantation trails between the cottages and the old estate buildings. There is no beach here. The nearest sand is about ten minutes down at Malgretoute, and the resort can arrange the run down.
The location is the strongest thing about it for anyone who wants the sights. Sulphur Springs, the drive-in volcano, is only a few minutes away, the Tet Paul Nature Trail is closer still, and the Gros Piton trailhead at Fond Gens Libre is roughly fifteen minutes off, which suits an early start on the climb. Soufriere town, with the market, bank and pharmacy, is about ten minutes north.
Soufriere gets busy on Saturday mornings and on cruise days, and tour groups reach Sulphur Springs late morning, so an early start is the simplest way around both.

How booking works
- Pick this transfer, choose the pay-in-cash option, register and submit your details. The flight number field is optional at this stage.
- You get a confirmation email straight away letting you know we have received the booking.
- Someone goes through your details and confirms the booking, usually in under 30 minutes, and you get a confirmation email.
- We assign your driver and ask for the flight number about 24 hours before travel if we do not have it. He meets you at arrivals with your name on a sign, deals with the luggage and drives you to the estate reception. Payment in cash happens at that point, not before.
Frequently asked questions
I am flying into SLU George Charles Airport. Can you collect me?
Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $120 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers. Select SLU under "Your airport" to see the price and book. Your driver tracks your flight and waits for you, with the same fixed price on the return trip.
Can we stop at Sulphur Springs on the way in?
Yes, and you drive right past it. Mention it when you book so the driver allows the time, and you will have seen it before you have even unpacked.
Is there a beach at the resort?
No. Malgretoute is about ten minutes down the hill and the resort can organise transport, so plan on a short drive for beach days.
How hilly is the property?
Enough that it is worth knowing. Cottages sit along paths and steps across the hillside, and staff help with luggage from reception.
How close is the Gros Piton climb?
The trailhead is around fifteen minutes away. Guides start early, so arriving the day before works well.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track it and update the driver, who waits. There is no extra charge and the booking stands.
How do I pay?
Cash to the driver once you reach the estate. Nothing is taken online and there is no deposit.
Book your UVF to Fond Doux transfer now and we will confirm it by email once someone has checked your details.
