La Haut sits on the hillside above Soufriere, roughly 38 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF), and the drive takes 45 to 60 minutes. The fare is $94 for the vehicle, not per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers. The price is fixed when you book.
Your driver is waiting inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name. He takes the luggage and you are moving within a few minutes of clearing customs, with no taxi rank to join and no fare to negotiate.
Nothing is charged online and there is no deposit. You pay the driver in cash on arrival.
The drive from Hewanorra to La Haut
The route leaves Vieux Fort and runs west along the coast through Laborie and Choiseul, then turns north into the hills. It is sealed road throughout, but it climbs, drops and bends almost continuously, so the short distance still takes close to an hour.
Coming over the high ground the Pitons appear above the bay, and there is a safe place to pull in if you want a photo before you get to the property.
The last part is what sets this route apart from the others in the area. Rather than stopping in Soufriere, the road carries on past the town and climbs the ridge towards Canaries. La Haut is up that hill, off the main road and a few hundred feet above the water, which is where the view from reception comes from. The entrance is short and steep, and we send a vehicle that handles it without fuss.
Soufriere town centre can be slow on Saturday mornings around the market and on days when cruise passengers come ashore. It rarely adds much, but if your flight lands mid morning we allow for it.
Around La Haut and Soufriere
You are on a working hillside estate, not a beach strip. It is cooler up here than on the coast, there is usually a breeze, and morning cloud sometimes sits on the ridge before burning off. The Pitons are in front of you rather than a drive away.
Soufriere town is five to ten minutes downhill, with the market, waterfront, bank and pharmacy. Sulphur Springs, the drive-in volcano, is about fifteen minutes, Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens is just outside town, and the Tet Paul Nature Trail gives you the two-Piton view on a short walk. Anse Chastanet beach is north of town on a steep unpaved road, and the Gros Piton trailhead at Fond Gens Libre is around twenty five minutes away.
The mistake first-timers make is assuming they can walk down to town and back. Downhill is fine. The return is a steep climb in the heat, so plan on a driver or arrange transport with the property.

Frequently asked questions
I am flying into SLU George Charles Airport. Can you collect me?
Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $120 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers. Select SLU under "Your airport" to see the price and book. Your driver tracks your flight and waits for you, with the same fixed price on the return trip.
Is La Haut on the beach?
No. It is on the hillside above Soufriere with the Pitons in view. The nearest beaches are a short drive down, so factor transport into your plans.
Can your vehicle get up to the property?
Yes. The approach is a short, steep climb off the main road and we assign a vehicle for it.
How far is it to Sulphur Springs?
About fifteen minutes by road. Diamond Falls and Soufriere market are closer, and we can arrange a driver for a half day if you want to combine them.
Is it cooler up there?
Usually a few degrees cooler than the coast, with more breeze. Cloud can sit on the ridge first thing in the morning and clears through the day.
How do I pay?
Cash to the driver on the day. Nothing is taken online and there is no deposit.
Can you book my return to the airport?
Yes, as a separate booking so the pickup time and address are recorded correctly. Allow the full hour again on the way back.
Book your UVF to La Haut transfer now and we will confirm it by email once someone has checked your details.
