The fare is $94 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Your driver is inside the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. He takes the luggage and you are on the road a few minutes after customs, at the price fixed when you booked.

The drive from Hewanorra to Rabot

The route leaves Vieux Fort heading west, runs along the coast through Laborie and Choiseul, then climbs north into the hills. It is sealed the whole way, but it bends constantly through villages and banana fields, which is why a short distance still takes the better part of an hour.

The last stretch comes over the high ground where the Pitons appear above the bay. There is a safe place to pull in for a photograph if you want one before you arrive.

The estate entrance is off the main road on the Soufriere side, and the drive up to reception is short and steep. One practical point for booking: this property was Boucan by Hotel Chocolat before it became Rabot, and both names are still in circulation. Either one works with us, but give us the name on your reservation so the confirmation matches what the hotel has.

Around Rabot and Soufriere

You are on a working plantation. Cocoa is grown on the estate and used on site, and the terraced lodges look across the valley to Petit Piton. It is a hillside property with steps between the buildings, and there is no beach here, so beach days mean a short drive down to Malgretoute or Anse Chastanet.

Soufriere town is only about five minutes down the hill, which is closer than most of the estate stays in this area. That makes the market, bank, pharmacy and the waterfront jetty for water taxis easy to reach. The town is busiest on Saturday mornings and when cruise passengers come ashore.

Sulphur Springs, the drive-in volcano, is around ten minutes away, Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens is beside the town, and the Tet Paul Nature Trail is a short drive south for the two-Piton view. The Gros Piton trailhead is roughly twenty minutes off.

Either is fine. The property changed name from Boucan by Hotel Chocolat, and our drivers know it by both, but use the name on your hotel reservation so nothing gets crossed.

No, it is a hillside estate. Malgretoute and Anse Chastanet are both short drives, and we can arrange the transport if the hotel does not.

How far is Soufriere town?

About five minutes downhill, which is closer than most of the plantation properties around here. Good for the market and for water taxis from the jetty.

Can you collect us for dinner elsewhere?

Yes. Evening runs into Soufriere or along the coast are easy to arrange, and worth booking ahead rather than on the night.

What if my flight is delayed?
