Group Size Up to 8 passengers
The Still Beach House is on the waterfront at Soufriere, about 35 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 45 to 60 minutes. The fare is $94 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.
Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.
Nothing is charged online and there is no deposit.
The drive from Hewanorra to Soufriere
The road runs west out of Vieux Fort through Laborie and Choiseul, then north into the hills above the coast. It is sealed the whole way and the shortest of the main airport routes by distance, but it bends and climbs almost continuously, so allow the full hour.
Both Pitons appear above the bay as the road comes over the high ground, and there is a safe place to pull in for a photograph before the descent.
The last part is the run down into town. Soufriere's streets are narrow and several are one way, so the driver takes you to the door where the street allows and stops at the nearest corner where it does not.
One thing to name at booking. The Still has more than one site, the beach house by the water and the plantation up on the estate. Tell us which your reservation is for so the driver heads to the right one.
Where the name comes from
Worth knowing, because it explains the place. The estate was a working plantation with its own still, the apparatus used to distil rum from the cane grown on the land, and the name stuck long after the business changed.
The island's sugar and rum history runs through this coast. The valleys behind Soufriere grew cane, cocoa and citrus, the estates processed it on site, and the ruins are still scattered across the hills. Several plantation estates are open to visitors, and the distillery in the Roseau valley, about half an hour north, still produces rum today.
Around the beach house
Being on the water in town puts you in an unusual spot for St Lucia. The bay is right there for a swim, the jetty for water taxis is close by, and the market, bank, pharmacy and local restaurants are a short walk rather than a drive.
Sulphur Springs, the drive-in volcano, is about ten minutes out of town, Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens sits beside it, and the Tet Paul Nature Trail is a short run south. The Gros Piton trailhead at Fond Gens Libre is roughly twenty minutes away.
The town is busiest on Saturday mornings around the market and on cruise days, both easier to enjoy than avoid if you are staying in the middle of it.

Frequently asked questions
I am flying into SLU George Charles Airport. Can you collect me?
Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $120 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers. Select SLU under "Your airport" to see the price and book. Your driver tracks your flight and waits for you, with the same fixed price on the return trip.
Beach house or plantation, which should I say?
Whichever is on your reservation. They are separate sites, one by the water and one up on the estate, so naming it saves a detour.
Where does the name come from?
From the estate's old rum still. Cane, cocoa and citrus were all processed on plantations along this coast, and the name outlasted the industry.
Can we swim from the property?
The bay is on your doorstep. For sand, Malgretoute and Anse Chastanet are short drives, or take a water taxi from the jetty.
How far is Sulphur Springs?
About ten minutes by road, with Diamond Falls beside it, which makes an easy half day from town.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track it and update your driver, who waits. No extra charge and the booking stands.
How do I pay?
Cash to the driver on arrival. Nothing is taken online and there is no deposit.
