UVF Airport to Leisure Inn Private Transfer

Leisure Inn is in the Soufriere area on the southwest coast, about 36 km from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). The drive takes 45 to 60 minutes. The fare is $94 for the whole vehicle rather than per person, covering up to three passengers. Families of up to 5 (up to 3 adults and 2 children) add $25 per extra person, while groups of 4 or more adults, 3 or more children, or 6 or more people are charged our group rate, shown when you choose your passengers.

Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, takes the luggage and has you on the road minutes after customs. The rate is fixed when you book.

The drive from Hewanorra to Soufriere

The road runs west out of Vieux Fort through Laborie and Choiseul, then north into the hills above the coast. It is sealed the whole way and short in distance, but it climbs and bends almost continuously, so allow the full hour.

Both Pitons come into view as the road crosses the high ground above the bay, and there is a safe place to pull in for a photograph before the descent into town.

The hour is more useful than it sounds. Your driver lives here, and most guests spend the drive asking the questions that guidebooks answer badly: which day to climb, whether the springs are worth it in the rain, where the food is good in town, what to skip. If you would rather doze after a long flight that is fine too, but plenty of people arrive with the week roughly planned.

Money and small places

Worth knowing if you are staying somewhere modest and eating locally rather than at a resort.

The local currency is the East Caribbean dollar. US dollars are widely accepted around the island, though your change will usually come back in EC, and smaller restaurants, market stalls and the water taxi men generally prefer EC cash. Cards work in the larger places and not always in the small ones.

Our fares are quoted in US dollars and paid in cash to the driver. If you want to draw money on arrival, there are machines at the airport and in Vieux Fort, and the driver will stop if you ask at booking.

Around Leisure Inn

Soufriere town has the market, bank, pharmacy, local restaurants and the jetty where water taxis run up the coast to Anse Chastanet and the bays under the Pitons.

Sulphur Springs, the drive-in volcano, is about fifteen minutes away, Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens is beside the town, and the Tet Paul Nature Trail is a short run south for the two-Piton view. The Gros Piton trailhead at Fond Gens Libre is roughly twenty minutes off. Malgretoute and Anse Chastanet are the nearest beaches by road.

How booking works

2. You get a confirmation email straight away letting you know we have received the booking.
3. Someone goes through your details and confirms the booking, usually in under 30 minutes, and you get a confirmation email.
4. We assign your driver and ask for the flight number about 24 hours before travel if we do not have it. He meets you at arrivals with your name on a sign, takes the bags and drives you to the property, where the fare is paid in cash.

I am flying into SLU George Charles Airport. Can you collect me?

Yes. SLU sits just outside Castries, and the fare from there is $120 for the whole vehicle, covering up to three passengers. Both work. US dollars are accepted widely, but change comes back in East Caribbean dollars and small local places prefer EC, so it is worth having some.

Can we ask the driver about what to do?

Yes, and most people do. An hour in the car with someone who lives here is the easiest way to sort out the week before you have even checked in.

How do we get to a beach?

Water taxi from the Soufriere jetty is the nicer option. By road, Malgretoute and Anse Chastanet are ten to fifteen minutes.

What is the final approach like?

A hill road, narrow in places, as most are on this side of the island. We send a vehicle to suit and the driver takes you to the door.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track it and update your driver, who waits. No extra charge and the booking stands.
